Man Utd’s best player set to sign new contract – reports

David de Gea is set to sign a new contract at Manchester United, according to reports.
The Spain goalkeeper has persistently been linked with a move to Real Madrid, with the La Liga giants said to be ready to make another attempt to sign the stopper they came so close to landing in 2015.
Three and a half years ago, United and Real blamed each other for failing to complete the necessary paperwork before the transfer deadline, with Keylor Navas missing out on a move in the opposite direction.
Real, who trail Barcelona in the league by 14 points, are understood to be ready to splash the cash this summer, with a goalkeeper high on their list of priorities.
But, ESPN and The Times, are reporting that De Gea will snub interest from Real to commit to a new deal with the club he joined from Atletico Madrid in 2011.
De Gea’s current has 18 months left to run, though United retain an option to extend that deal for a further year. The two parties have been discussing extending that commitment and United are said to be encouraged enough to expect the 27-year-old to put pen-to-paper soon.
If De Gea is indeed set on staying at Old Trafford, then Real are expected to turn their attention towards Thibaut Courtois, who has less than 18 months left to run on his contract at Chelsea.
