BOY,
3, ABDUCTED WHILE PLAYING WITH PEERS
A
three-year-old boy, Master Olarenwaju Obazua, has been abducted from his
father’s compound while playing with other children. Olarenwaju was abducted by
about 6:30 pm on November 21 at No. 5, John Ladipo Street, Ajegunle in Apapa
area of Lagos State. The victim’s mother, Mrs Maria Obazua, said the family had
been facing emotional distress since the only son among three siblings was
kidnapped.
She said: “It was around 6:30 pm
on Saturday, Olarenwaju was playing with other children in front of our
compound.
After a
while, I went to check him but he was nowhere to be found, that was how we
started looking for him since that day.” The mother of three said the family
had not received any call from the abductors since then.
She added: “His father has
reported the case at the police station at Trinity and Area ‘B’ Command, Apapa.
We have placed his pictures at different police stations, seeking information
concerning his whereabouts, but till today we have had no response.” One of the
neighbours, who identified herself as Nkechi, recounted the ordeal of the
victims’ parents.
She said: “If the abductors had
contacted the parents, we would have known what they wanted. Nobody has been
contacted. The kidnappers should consider the plight of the child and the
emotional trauma the family has been going through and set him free.”
Olarenwaju was said to be a pupil at Pricilla Nursery and Primary School,
Ajegunle.
When contacted on the phone,
state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Joseph Offor, said he would
find out. Offor later said the DPO in charge of Ajegunle said the matter was
not reported.
